The texture of this elegant scarf comes both from the varied weft yarns and the surface design techniques at the ends.

With a background in multi-shaft weaving, Kate found the prospect of a basic plain weave daunting, so she took a step back and let the yarn be the focus. Mixing gauges of two yarns with very different textures, she created a base pattern that was subtle yet textural. The design was inspired by classic border prints. The end result is subtle, but using vibrant complementary colors would create an effect like embroidered Mexican blouses.
