Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the theme for the Spring 2026 Easy Weaving with Little Looms! That’s right. For the first issue of 2026, we’re asking designers to look up to find inspiration. We’ll be searching the skies for projects inspired by not just birds and planes, but also treetops, clouds, stars, planets, and anything else you might see up above.

Examples of projects might include a silk or Tencel aurora borealis shawl, towels woven with the colors of your favorite hummingbird, inkle bands festooned with stars, or a looped-pile bathmat with texture inspired by treetops. Feel free to also look to the non-natural world for inspiration—maybe a spaceship plush or a city skyline runner.

Please note, projects that use discontinued yarns will not be accepted. Hand-dyed yarns will be allowed as long as either the yarn is available for sale or instructions are given in the project for dyeing the yarn.

Also note that we base our project selections for each issue on contributor photographs. Please include a photo or photos of the finished item or of items you’ve woven that are most similar to the item you propose to weave for the issue. We will review the proposals and ask for additional photographs if needed. After the project-selection meeting, we will contact everyone whose project is accepted and ask that it be submitted along with the project paperwork.

You can find the palette for the issue here.
