LoginThe Shakers are known for their clever use of twisted weft to create pattern. You can learn their technique while weaving this distinctive piece.
The Shakers are known for their simple use of design and uncomplicated weave structures, limited most often to plain weave or twill. Their twisted rugs differ from other rag-weaving techniques by using many strands of yarn wound onto the shuttle and then twisted intentionally to create unique optical patterns. For this project, Sara wanted to scale down the classic Shaker rug to something manageable for even the smallest of looms.
