LoginBright colors inspired by the prickly pear fruit—also known as tuna— come in and out of view on a dark background to bring the nighttime desert alive in this clasped-weft runner.
Tunas, also known as prickly pears, are the fruit of the paddle cactus that grows prolifically throughout the Chihuahuan and Sonoran Deserts. The plants also host the cochineal insect that’s used for dyeing. Mariellen wanted to make the colors of the fruit and plant come alive using her stash of Lunatic Fringe Yarns mercerized cotton and the clasped-warp technique.
