LoginColor-and-weave with its surprising patterns will keep you intrigued as you weave these raffia coasters and table mat. The mat is woven in four parts and then assembled to create two layers of sturdy protection.
What fun to go from treadled patterns to the simplicity of a rigid-heddle project with raffia that demands your full attention. When Kate used raffia for a Yarn Lab in Handwoven March/April 2020, it made her think about using raffia for placemats and coasters. Sure enough, Susan E. Horton had a set of placemats woven on a rigid-heddle loom in that same issue. Kate’s loom is narrow, but we hope you will find the raffia enticing for larger pieces, too.
