Have you checked out the Little Looms Library recently? If not, you might be missing out! The library is full of projects and information—including more than a few freebies available to anyone, with or without a subscription. There are so many wonderful resources available—if you know how to find them—so I wanted to highlight how to use our library and what goodies you can get at every subscription level. (Not a subscriber or thinking of upgrading your subscription? Learn more about the different levels here!)

How to Use the Library

When we put together our library, one of our goals was to make it as easy as possible to find what you’re looking for. While you can use the search bar if you want something specific, such as the Summer 2025 issue, you might also notice that on the left side of the screen, we have a whole column of filters with checkboxes. Here you can narrow down your searches by:

  • Access level (Free, Subscription, and All Access)
  • Format (project, eBook, magazine, etc.)
  • Loom type, project type, techniques used, heddle width, and more.

Free without a Subscription

If you don’t have a subscription, use the filter column to check the “Free” box under Access to find downloads available to anyone and everyone with a free account. You’ll find downloads for projects, eBooks, and skill guides, as well as project charts and extra instructions we couldn’t fit in the magazine. One of my favorite freebies is the printable Graph Paper for Weavers. I almost never have graph paper available when I need it, so I love just printing out a sheet at a time for charting Baltic pick-up designs. It’s also perfect for making tapestry cartoons and doing design charting. Best of all, it’s completely free!

Magazine Subscribers Get Even More

If you’re a subscriber, you have even more available to you in the Little Looms Library. My favorite subscriber feature is the access to back issues. For subscribers, every back issue of Easy Weaving with Little Looms is available in the Little Looms library. To find issues with projects you want, check the format filter for Magazine and then check any filters you’re interested in under Category, Project Type, and Technique to narrow things down.

Along with back issues, you’ll also find subscriber-exclusive projects—some never published in Easy Weaving with Little Looms—tutorials, and even a video demonstration of using two pick-up sticks in rigid-heddle weaving. To browse all the subscriber exclusives, just check the Subscriber box under Access.

All Access Subscribers Get It All

If you’re an All Access subscriber who isn’t using the library, you are missing out on so much! The feature I probably use the most as an All Access Subscriber is searching for individual projects. Every single Little Looms original project is available as a PDF download for All Access subscribers. Use the filter column to narrow down the type of project you want, then you can browse the results without having to search through an issue.

All Access subscribers also have access to every skill guide in the library and all the ones we’ve added as articles. Each skill guide covers a specific topic and includes articles, tutorials, tips, projects suggestions, and more to help you expand your weaving knowledge. Topics include continuous-strand weaving on the pin loom, hand-manipulation techniques, tapestry basics, wet-finishing, and so much more. As of this writing, we have 30 skill guides!

But, wait, there’s more! Along with every Little Looms project and all the skill guides, we also have a selection of All Access exclusive eBooks filled with projects not just from Little Looms, but also from our sister magazines Handwoven, Spin Off, and PieceWork.

Final Thoughts

The Little Looms Library is one of my absolute favorite tools, and I use it regularly not just as the editor of Little Looms, but also for my own personal weaving. Whether I need a refresher on how to do leno lace or want to find a project that works on my rigid heddle, it’s a piece of cake with the library’s filter feature.

No matter what level of subscription you have, I’m sure there’s something for you in the Little Looms Library. We’re constantly adding new items to every tier, so make sure you regularly check in to see what’s available or, even better, subscribe to our newsletter so you can get all the details on what’s new.

Happy Weaving!

Christina
