LoginUse two heddles on your rigid-heddle loom to weave this silk scarf influenced by Indian travel books. The silk is produced in the northeastern state of Meghalaya, India, but it is readily available in the United States.
During the pandemic, Shilpa read a lot of travel books and, in doing so, found ideas not just for future vacations but also for weaving projects. This scarf is a tribute to the fabric woven by the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya, the northeastern state of India and home to three major tribes: Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo. The women of the Khasi tribe wear beautiful handwoven garments made from spun eri silk that is dyed using natural dyes.
