Bonus Variation: Gingerbread Dishcloths
Get the details on weaving two new dishcloths to go with Malynda Allen’s project from the Winter 2023 issue. These cute cloths can be woven easily on the same warp as the other four.

Am I the only one who can hardly believe it’s November? I feel like just yesterday, I was sitting down with my boys, trying to figure out Halloween costumes, but suddenly I find myself thinking about Thanksgiving and beyond. Part of that beyond is figuring out what I’m going to weave and when for each upcoming holiday. I haven’t made final decisions yet, but Malynda Allen’s clever Gingerbread Dishcloths and Bin from the Winter 2023 Easy Weaving with Little Looms are high on my list.
I love how wintery this project feels. It’s mostly green and white with just a pop of red. It’s understated and classic. Plus, I love the variety of patterns you can get on one warp. In the Winter issue, we gave the instructions for weaving 4 different cloths, two plain weave and two using pick-up, but Malynda actually sent us six. We didn’t have room for those last two, but we also didn’t want them to go to waste, so instead, we’re offering them here as a subscriber exclusive!

While the other four dishcloths and even the basket feature stripes, Malynda chose to weave these last two cloths in a cheerful checked pattern. If you plan to weave all six dishcloths, just make sure to add on an extra 40" of warp (20" per dishcloth) and plan on needing extra weft as well. Weave them as-is or pick a palette that best suits you and your home (or the home of whomever you’re gifting them to!). I’m already picturing them in more autumnal colors. I digress! You can find the weft color order for these checked dishcloths below.
As with the other cloths, Malynda wove this weft color order in both plain weave and using the pick-up stick sequence. However you weave them, I hope you have fun.
