Growing up, I moved a lot and, as a result, I got to experience living in a variety of different places from bustling cities to much more rural areas. I honestly could not tell you where I liked living best because both types of places are full of joys, big and small. For this Summer 2026 issue of Easy Weaving with Little Looms, I decided not to choose a favorite and instead celebrate both places with the theme Town and Country, which looks to celebrate everything we love about these two very different types of communities.

I’m looking for projects inspired by what you love best about the town or country. Projects for town might include fancy accessories for going out to the theater or a nice dinner (shawls, scarves, bags, bow ties, suspenders, etc.), tote bags to take to the local bookstore or bodega, a picnic blanket for Shakespeare in the park, and home décor to brighten up your apartment.
For the country, examples of projects might include a gardening apron, tote bags for the farmer’s market, a bag for carrying firewood, rustic yet elegant table linens and home décor, or a binoculars strap for going birding. We’re also looking for projects inspired by elements of these places: a scarf inspired by a favorite building or a set of towels that remind you of the prairie, for example.

If you want to see more examples of the types of projects we’re looking for, check out the Pinterest pages for the issue. You can see Town here and Country here.
Please note, projects that use discontinued yarns will not be accepted. Hand-dyed yarns will be allowed as long as either the yarn is available for sale or instructions are given in the project for dyeing the yarn.
Also note that we base our project selections for each issue on contributor photographs. Please include a photo or photos of the finished item or of items you’ve woven that are most similar to the item you propose to weave for the issue. We will review the proposals and ask for additional photographs if needed. After the project-selection meeting, we will contact everyone whose project is accepted and ask that it be submitted along with the project paperwork.
You can find the palette for the issue here.
