After much plotting and planning, it’s finally here: the 2022 editorial calendar for Easy Weaving with Little Looms. The Spring 2022 call for submissions has already gone out, but that still leaves 3 more issues of little-loom weaving fun. Without further ado, here are the themes for the Summer, Autumn, and Holiday issues, and a few important dates related to each one.

Summer 2022: Vacations

Summer is the perfect time to take a break and go out and explore, or simply relax. We want to see your projects inspired by vacations and staycations. This can mean projects to take on vacation or make your staycation more fun, or projects inspired by past (or dream!) vacations. We’re looking for tote bags and other accessories to take on vacation as well as wearables designed for looking your best while out and about or in and around as the case may be.

Proposals for projects and articles due: 07/05/2021
Submissions in form of photographs and outlines due: 08/30/2021
Final submissions including projects and paperwork due: 10/04/2021

Autumn 2022: It’s in the Details

Sometimes the littlest details can make an enormous difference in your finished project, so for this issue we’re looking for those small touches that take a project from ordinary to extraordinary. This might mean macrame instead of twisted or knotted fringe, adding embroidery or other embellishments to your project, using hand-manipulation techniques on the loom, or joining your pieces in creative ways.

Final submissions including projects and paperwork due: 12/20/2021

Holiday 2022: Winter Reading

While it’s always a good time to pick up a book, there’s nothing quite like getting cozy and reading a comforting book on a cold night. For this issue, we’re looking for projects inspired by your favorite wintery writing as well as projects designed for winter-time reading. As this is the holiday issue, we’re also looking for gifts inspired by books or for the readers in your life.

Proposals for projects and articles due: 12/13/2021
Submissions in form of photographs and outlines due: 02/14/2022
Final submissions including projects and paperwork due: 03/21/2022

Calls for submissions will go out about a month before the proposal due date, so keep an eye on this page to find out more information about themes, ideas for projects and articles, and palettes. Remember, projects should be for rigid-heddle, pin, frame, or inkle looms. Tablet and backstrap weaving are also welcome. As always, these dates are not yet set in stone and might change as time goes on.

Happy Weaving!
